Black Snake Environmental Mooring Strop

Developed in 2008 for local saltwater bays and rugged ocean sea-lanes, the robust design of the Black Snake Environmental Mooring Strop has been proven to outlast more conventional chain and rope moorings in similar marine environments. The overarching benefit of the Black Snake Environmental Mooring Strop is that it replaces chain which damage fragile seagrasses and ecosystems which are the nurseries of fish and other Sealife. Damage to the seabed’s vegetation around the mooring block/anchor can be reversed by using Black Snake Environmental Mooring Strops.

Black Snake Environmental Mooring Strops are buoyancy neutral and have a significant elasticity, which reduces repeated shock-loading from tidal and constant wave action. Floodwaters and associated plant debris generated by the floodwaters can clog up chains and ropes, but the Black Snake Environmental Mooring Strops are unimpeded. These unique mooring strops are a perfect complement to any navigation buoys and can be used in many applications as a mooring chain replacement.

The embedded thimbles (heavy duty galvanized or stainless) eliminate fraying of the nylon fibres and the thick rubber cover maintains the full strength of the nylon in salt water and protects the thimbles. Approved by Parks Victoria for installation in Victoria’s bays.

Abrasion/cut resistant rubber protects the inner nylon fibres from the elements and keeps out water, mud and creatures. The Mooring Strop is UV stabilised and saltwater resistant, allowing it to be maintenance free for years. The core is high strength uses Nylon 6.6 with smooth stretch up to 20%. Special thimble eye configurations can be requested. Individual serial numbers and in-built Radio Frequency ID chips allow for easy traceability and can be read using smart phone apps.
